According to the 2022 Census, IsiZulu is the most commonly spoken language in South Africa. 24% of households speak IsiZulu most often, followed by IsiXhosa 16%, and Afrikaans at 11%. Sign language, the 12th official language, has the lowest usage at around 0.02%.
