Volkswagen and Toyota dominate the top end
Car brand ownership amongst the middle and upper classes (R10 000 plus household income) of South Africa has seen little change in the last 12 months. With 20% of ownership, VW narrowly edges out Toyota (18%) as the brand of choice. That’s twice the footprint of Hyundai (9%) and Ford (10%). BMW has 8% of this market, Mercedes Benz 7% and Audi 4%.
