   Interesting, thanks. I took guests for lunch at Franschhoek’s The Tasting Room last month without knowing that it was in any “top” lists.

   Conceptually it’s lovely, one orders starter-sized dishes, all perfect, and a lot of fun for a group to share a table full of separate flavours.

   I think Haute Cabriere, up the road and around the corner and closed for the winter, pioneered the idea in the region.

   Re La Colombe, perhaps the list-makers haven’t yet discovered former chef Franck Dangereux’s newer restaurant around the corner in Noordhoek, the Foodbarn.
