Valentine’s Day is a day where people often give each other gifts, in fact a small 2021 survey found that 85% planned to give their significant other a gift for Valentine’s Day. Individuals with higher incomes however, are more likely to gift. According to the MAPS dataset, individuals with an income above R20,000 are more likely to have bought a gift in the past month (11%) compared to individuals with an income below R20,000 (7%).
