The right to work is often not spoken about, but in South Africa it is a right that many are unable to realise. According to the 2021Q3 Labour Force Survey (found in the Eighty20 Data Portal) South Africa has an unemployment rate of 35%. Despite this, South Africans are clearly among the hardest working people, ranking 8th in the world (by hours worked per annum) – and placing above notoriously hard working countries such as India and China
