The Great Red Spot
Discovered more than 400 years ago, the biggest active storm in our solar system is on Jupiter. Roughly 150 years ago the storm’s diameter was estimated to be ~48,000 km wide. In 2017 the storm measured 16,350km wide, 30% greater than the diameter of Earth. Wind velocities at the edge of the storm can reach up to 400km/h.
