Latest customer insights available now from Eighty20
The latest MAPS, plus a number of other leading South African consumer datasets, are now available on the Eighty20 Data Portal.
Several new and exciting datasets are available, giving businesses access to a range of insights to help them better understand and engage with South African consumers. In particular, two surveys, FUSION22 and Roots, give marketers a much clearer idea of the impact of Covid on consumer behaviour.
New data already available on our Data Portal
MAPS February 2023 release (Fieldwork July 2021 – June 2022)
The full dataset is only available to MAPS subscribers; however, we are able to give clients limited access on a pay-as-you-go basis. Contact us if you would like these insights.
Two reasons you should use MAPS:
- The only independently audited nationally representative survey of adult South Africans
- A definitive source for understanding how South African customers interact with thousands of brands
This dataset underwent an independent audit to assess the quality of the data and ensure its accuracy and efficacy for use. Even though the process ensures quality of data, resulting in a more accurate picture of the South African population, very few South African data providers have their data audited. This process will result in a change in the weightings, which will frustrate some users as numbers will change, but that should be tempered with the realisation that the audit ensures the MAPS data is world class and has independence and integrity.
FUSION22
Available to all Data Portal subscribers, this unique dataset fuses a number of leading surveys to provide an invaluable tool for marketing and media professionals.
FUSION22 fuses five large datasets, including READ2021 (an update on what was formerly known as PAMS), TAMS (The television currency survey), RAMS Amplify™ (The radio currency survey), Nielsen Digital Consumer Survey (DCS) and Nielsen Consumer Panel (CPS) data. The READ dataset has a sample of 14,730 respondents and offers insights on banking, automotive, digital and streaming as well as retail and FMCG brands.
Two reasons you should use FUSION22:
- Links radio and television viewership with customer brand and product preferences, demographics and psychographics
- Provides a dedicated view of digital behaviour, including internet, streaming and social media usage
FinScope 2022
- FinScope is available to syndicate members and is designed to facilitate an understanding of the informal financial services market.
Two reasons you should use FinScope:
- Provides rich insights into the financial services issues facing South Africans, including banking, insurance, credit and savings
- Gives insights into the attitudes that drive consumer adoption and usage of financial services
Data coming soon
ROOTS 8.0 will be available to Data Portal subscribers later in February. The Roots data, released by Caxton and Spark Media, was last updated in 2019. The strength in this dataset has always been that it is a survey of large metropolitan areas, not a national survey. So while you cannot extrapolate the results to the entire country, you do have the ability to dig deeper into nearly 100 urban communities. The Roots sample is 23,000 representing 9.3m South Africans and covers shopping journeys, use of advertising, home shopping and self-care (including Covid vaccinations), among others.
Other datasets to watch out for are the Labour Force Survey Q4 2022 due to be released in February and the Census 2022 to be released in quarter three of this year.
