In 1915, Shackleton’s ship Endurance was trapped and crushed by Antarctic pack ice. His 28-man crew survived months on the ice in -40°C conditions - with not a single death - a feat credited to his leadership. The Endurance was found in 2022 by a South African based ship - S. A. Agulhas II.
