During SONA, the President outlines the government’s priorities and objectives following which the Minister of Finance uses the Budget Speech to outline the allocation of funding for these programs. A key area of spending was Social Welfare, and over the next 3 years Government allocated R3.33 trillion to the social wage to support vulnerable and low-income households, approximately 60% of the Government's non-interest expenditure.
