In 2010/11 SARS collected approximately R226.93 billion in taxes from individuals. In 2010, the tax rate on the highest earning individuals in South Africa was 40%, for the Netherlands it was 52% and in Switzerland it was 13.2%. (www.oecd.org,www.sars.gov.za)
