   Very hard hitting numbers! This seems awfully low in both absolute and relative terms. Does this include degrees from technicons? Does it include diplomas and professional certificates? So, for eg, if someone has a Diploma in Business Admin from UCT’s GSB or something similar that’s not actually a full degree but a very powerful certification, is he/she excluded?

   Hi,

   Thanks for your comment. This includes (as classified by the Census):
   Bachelors Degree, Bachelors degree and Post graduate Diploma, Honours degree, and Higher Degree Masters/ PHD.

   If we include diplomas then the proportion of 25-64 year old South Africans with a degree or diploma increases to 10%. The average for OECD nations increases to 32%
