Lord of the Rings (LOTR) was filmed in New Zealand - and left a remarkable impact. As of 2021, roughly 18% of visitors to the Islands cite LOTR and The Hobbit movies as the reason for their visit. Since 2001 LOTR tourism is conservatively estimated to have brought in at least NZ$620m.
