As one of the ‘oldest’ populations in Europe reels from the effects of Covid-19, it’s sobering to understand their tragedy through the lens of a virus that targets the aged. Nearly 60% of the Italian population is over 40 years old and about 23% of them are over 65. It’s an entirely different challenge to a country like South Africa, where only 28% of the population is over 40 and just 6% are over 65. (BrandMapp, 2020)
